Zumba at The Ridge

Workouts don’t have to be a chore. In fact, workouts don’t have to feel like workouts at all. With Zumba, a workout isn’t even a workout: it’s a fun, social dance party – with exercise being the biggest perk! The music is upbeat and contagious, so you can’t help but keep moving. Come join Teri  for Zumba Toning (with light weights) Tues. 5:30PM  and Zumba Dance with Vickie for a more traditional Zumba on Wednesday's at 5:30PM. You don't have to have rhythm, just the desire to burn some calories! Teri is back starting Feb. 2019 and Vickie moves to Wed. 5:30PM.

What is HIIT & LIIT?

BCOT Boot Camp/Obstacle Training- a little of both highly intense workouts. Want to be in the best shape of your life? Get your cardio and strength-training all wrapped in together? We use the obstacles in the back yard, across the street at the park, and inside when it's raining. You're assigned a set of tasks to complete, and you work at your own pace and order to get them done. Modifications given for a less intense version. Stephanie leads us in this once-a-week class. Are you up for the challenge?

HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training, but don't let the name intimidate you. Stephanie leads us through rounds of cardio, upper body, lower body, and Abs/Core with short rests in between. The idea here is to get the heart rate up, then let it come down, which is called Interval Training. Studies suggest that this is the fastest way to burn calories and in turn burn fat for the slimmer, trimmer, toned YOU! Modifications to almost every exercise are given for those who are less advanced, and/or have limitations due to injuries. Progressions are also offered for those wanting a bit more.

LIIT (Low Intensity Interval Training).  Stephanie also leads this class. It is a lower-intensity, low impact version of interval training. It's still a total-body workout, only less intense. This class is for everyone wanting a good combination of cardio and strength-training without the impact of jumping & plyometrics.

I've been going to yoga at The Ridge for a few months and it's been successful! I've participated in a lot of yoga classes but this one is by far my favorite! Denise, the instructor is highly knowledgeable on not only the poses, but the anatomy and how to modify for different bodies and injuries people may have. She's so kind, compassionate, caring and truly embodies the heart centered teachings of yoga. She takes it past just a physical practice and helps us to enhance the mental and spiritual aspects of yoga. Every class is like a warming, calming, welcoming breath of fresh air. Especially since she also takes the time to walk us through breath work which has helped me to take my practice to a deeper level. I would recommend Denise's yoga class at The Ridge to everyone! It's a truly life changing experience.
